Thursday 19th August AM; The boys were pretty active today as I think they are getting used to me. I gave them some strokes and they watched mess I cleaned out their hutch and swept up. I gave them new hay and Timothy hay, fresh water with vitamins, plus their pellet food and a couple of carrots and the remainder of cucumber. As the boys have been so good I also treated them to a munchy treat stick. Patches and Pepper wasted no time in munching down on their food. I opened up the curtains, popped off the light and said goodbye to the boys til later.
PM; The boys weren't up for coming out of their hutch so I picked them up carefully to do a bottom check and have a cuddle. Patches looked at me with his cute eyes and reminded me of the little ones in the film G-Force! I sorted out their tea and gave them carrots, lettuce, left the cucumber from this morning and cabbage. They hadn't touched their nibble stick so I left that in the hutch. However, as soon as I shut them up and covered over their net they started crunching away loudly. I popped the weighed bricks on the food container then closed the curtains and popped on the landing light. Have a good journey back. I will drop the key back off to you tomorrow.
Wednesday 18th August AM; I gave Patches and Pepper I good stroke this morning then pulled out their bedding and some of the newspaper as it was dirty and then refreshed with clean bedding, fresh water and vitamins, pellet food and a dash of carrot. I swept up around their inside hutch area and by the hay bins, then I topped up the boys Timothy hay then popped off the light and pulled back the curtains and put the post onto the kitchen side. Patches and Pepper tucked into their breakfast and I told them I would see them later and the weatherman said it should be a brighter day today.
PM; The boys had pulled out their hay from the basket and covered the floor of their run. So, I swept up again (and they watch on amused). Then I prepared their dinner of pellets, carrots, apple, lettuce and cucumber. I gave them lots of strokes and Pepper had hay stuck to his head making him look like a little farmer who'd been out working in the fields. I gently popped this off and they set about munching down. I closed the curtains and popped on the landing light.
Tuesday 17th August AM; The boys were cuddled to one another in their bedroom and I said good morning. They had eaten a fair bit of their bedding hay and a little of the Timothy hay overnight. I changed their water and ensured the vitamins were in the water and I washed out their bowls and prepared breakfast - some pellets and a carrot as a treat, plus a little sprinkling of their fruity treat biscuits on top. I took out a layer of their newspaper as it was dirty and then gave their hay basket a little top up too. I opened up the curtains and popped off the landing light and told the boys I would be back later - the weather looks a little grim today.
PM; Boy was the weather rubbish this evening. It chucked it down. So when I got to the boys they were all snug in their bedroom. I gave them strokes and chatted to them in the dark and checked they were all ok. Tonight I spoilt them with some great fresh food as the weather was so bad. They had carrot, lettuce, cabbage, cucumber and dried food plus hay - what a feast indeed. I secured their net over the hutch and lay the stairs across and weighted the top down as before. I then closed the curtains and popped on the landing light and said goodnight to the boys.
Monday 16th August AM; Pepper and Patches were much more spritely this morning and Patches let me give him a stroke. I cleaned out their poop from their main hutch area and then gave them some more bedding hay and Timothy hay for their basket then prepared their breakfast of fresh water with vitamins and pellets. I gave them a carrot and remainder of apple as a treat for breakfast as they had eaten all their food from last night. I popped their steps out onto the hutch and ensured the hutch was safe and weighted down. I left the boys munching away, enjoying their food.
pm; Patches made me giggle this evening. They'd obviously been enjoying the fine weather as hay was in their run area, and they'd drink a lot of water. The boys had spread their pellets across the hutch too. So, I sorted out their dried food and tonight they had a fresh food medley of carrots, celery, apple and lettuce with a top up of dried. I gave the boys some more bedding hat as they had scoffed their way through this. I gave the boys a cuddle each and checked their bums were all healthy too. Then I said good night, closed the curtains in the lounge, popped the post in the kitchen and popped on the landing light.
Sunday 15th August PM; The little ones were all snuggled and dozing in their bed when I arrived. The woke up and turned around and looked at me as if to say "who are you and where's Charlotte?" I chatted away to them and Pepper thought I was most interesting. I popped some Timothy Hay into their basket as they'd eaten it all. Then set about preparing a real fresh food delight for them. Patches and Pepper enjoyed some carrot, cabbage, half a celery stick each a some apple, plus a top up on their dried food. I checked their water, then after they let me give them a stroke, I said goodnight and popped over the fly net and lay the ladders against the hutch as instructed then ensured the bricks were all in place and I popped another brick (from the table) onto the top of the hutch over the wooden middle section so Mr Fox wouldn't be able to get near Patches and Pepper. I left the little ones munching down. See attached pictures.
